Nars All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation - a review

Just landed with me:  Nars All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation in Stromboli.   By now you probably know I am a bit of a Nars baby and couldn't wait to try their newest foundation.  And verdict?  This stuff is proper excellence in a bottle.   I literally moisturised and with a damp foundation brush, applied all over my face.  The result was magic, in my humble opinion anyway!  I wanted to see the results of just the product with no base or primer and I wasn't disappointed.  It literally lasts the whole night and left me with glowy skin.   Love, love, love.

I wanted to keep my make up low key so I opted for a taupe based eyeshadow finished off with Chanel Illusion D'Ombre in Epatant.  I find it gives a subtle sparkle rather than a full on glittery finish.

So it was Friday night and a farewell dinner to two friends.  The separation anxiety of leaving my two children prompted me to fill up with wine!   I had a lovely night.  Bye Anita and Sanjay and good luck!

This is what I wore:

Reiss Perrie Dress in Papaya
Miu Miu Glitter-Finished Sandals

Finished off with Ted Baker Colete coat in Cream

On a wind up at Jimmy Choo! Jimmy Choo Youth Boots...

So there I was the other day mixing with the hoi poloi at Jimmy Choo London.  I went to get a pair of boots that I had saved up for.

These are Jimmy Choo Youth boots in Musk and are my pride of joy at the moment, absolutely gorgeous.  I suppose I should have bought a pair of skyscraper heels or something of the like to be truly glamorous but you know what?  These are comfortable and low key perfect for the busy running around I do on a daily basis.  And half sizes too, perfect!

Anyway, back to Jimmy Choo.  I rocked up there with all the anxiety of wanting to be taken seriously and feeling completely out of place.  So I tried on a pair that were just that little bit too big.  So, I kindly ask for a smaller size.  Except that when she brought out the smaller one I couldn't get my foot in it.  At all.

So I tried and tried to squeeze my foot into it and I could feel myself getting hot and going a bit crimson.   So I tried again.  And again.  Still no joy.

Determined as I am, I ask for the shoe horn.  I am then sat there trying to lever my foot into this shoe at the risk of breaking it.  And you know what it still didn't work!

So what do you do?  I ask the lady if undoing the buckles will make any difference and it was much to her horror!!!  I think she was about to have a coronary because I most definitely did.

I'm not one to give up though and after that question the lady ran off and I was left alone with the boots.  Tempted to run out of there (and hide from the world for a century), I try one more time.

And you know what it worked.  Jimmy Choos on my feet and they fitted perfectly!

This is how I wore them the other day:

Jimmy Choo Youth boots in Musk
Whistles Daria Shearling jacket in Grey
Diesel Skinzee in Blue wash

Hope you feel my pain, but I think they were worth the palpitations! x

Lancome Eyeshadow Ombre Absolue - Cuban Brown - A review

So it was the weekend and time to get out and have a chat with the ladies.   We went for Afternoon Tea and it was posh.  Me posh?  Most definitely not.   I grew up in East London where I had never even heard of such a concept.   (Nothing wrong with East London by the way, great place to be).

I was there with many refined ladies and got a chance to dress up which is always fun!  It was a baby shower and I had the full tea.   Why?   Because, I am so busy running around I barely get a chance to eat.   So, with no kids around, I took full advantage!

This is what I wore:

Topshop bodycon dress
Denham blazer in Grey

For my make up I chose my favourite LancĂ´me Eyeshadow Ombre Absolue in Cuban Brown.  I find it works perfectly for daytime as its quite matte with just a hint of shimmer.  And at 1:00 in the afternoon?  Way too early for sparkle!  Hope you like.  x

Kerastase Nutritive Masquintense - a review

So, I have talked about other stuff.   Lets talk about hair.   I have extremely dry damaged hair which is super thick and unruly!   I regularly colour it and put my hair through the ordeal of straighteners every time I wash it.  I need a loving conditioner and the only thing that seems to work on my hair is Kerastase.  I've tried every conditioner on the high street and none seem to give my hair the tlc needed!

If you have dry damaged hair and regularly colour it like me, try out Keratase Nutritive Masquintense for dry and extremely sensitised hair.  I sometimes use this and just wash it out after a few mins when I'm on the go.   When I have a little me time (which is not often!) I keep it in for, say, 30 mins or so for a deep treat.  It works wonders!

There is almost definitely a product by them for your own hair type, my hair type is thick/dry damaged.  For me, this is a hair masque that works.  Check it out! x

Pass me the cake!

So its Easter again and that time of year that I'm not fitting into my jeans.   What has caused such tyranny?  These:

Every Easter I stock up and I currently have 3 packets in my cupboard.  I have a serious soft spot for these, they are so yummy!    Why do they not do these all year round???   Worth every bit of fat on my thighs!  Go away jeans, I don't need you right now...  Pass me the cake.

Eat beautiful, be beautiful x

Giorgio Armani Eye Tint in number 5 - a review

Ok folks, here it is just landed in my make up collection Giorgio Armani Eye Tint in number 5.

First things first.   Please excuse my hair and eyebrows.  This photo is taken at the end of the evening and after a few glasses of champagne!   But, I just had to post a pic of this eyeshadow.   In my opinion it rocks!   I love it.   I used no base which was strange for me, as I always do.   Apparently, the tint is suspended in water and dries to a powder.  It promises long wear and no creasing and I can't argue.  So, I applied layer  by layer allowing to dry in between (this is just the way I did it). Not sure the photo does it justice, but it should give u an idea...

Super sparkly and super girly!  Trust me, and quick.   No messing with loose glitters... fabulous. Hope you like.

And a big thank you to Jessica for putting me on red alert for this one!!!  xxx

MAC Matte Lipstick in CANDY YUM YUM

What I'm wearing today is MAC Lipstick in Candy Yum Yum.   I love the colour; very intense and almost a neon shade.   Not for the faint hearted.   Still gotta work out how to apply for an evening look but after just whacking on, I still don't think it looks too bad!

Having said that, my little boy remarked on my new found bright pink lips:   "Mummy that's yucky!!!".   My daughter loved it though, who do I believe???   What a conundrum...

More about me

Hello people.   So more about me.  As you probably know, I am currently a stay at home mummy to two children who light up my world.  They are 3 and 2 and yes, I was pregnant for almost two years with just a 3 month break!   This is by far the most difficult thing I have ever done.   That along with the fact I suffer with extreme anxiety (G.A.D) makes my day to day running sometimes impossible!

I worked in the City of London for almost 6 years and eventually I was knocked out of work because of my illness.  I gained a Masters degree from Kings College, played Netball and swam to try and alleviate the symptoms.

I then turned to have children and never looked back.  I became really interested in beauty and fashion and now I love it!  .

I have so much to be grateful for, so why this?  In a really difficult day, this is my release!  Looking after 2 small children is hard, and this is my little bit of sanity.    Trust me, I live in a really mad, mad world!!!

My Cat

In my haste of adding a family photo on here, I forgot to add an important member of my family:  My cat.   Just please don't ask what he's called.  Oh ok then if you must know its, wait for it, Xerxes.

Again, don't ask how we got there; its a long boring story.

My house is an absolute riot.  When there are no tears and tantrums there is laughter and joy.  And that's just me...  We sing, we dance and largely its a lot of fun.   Like a seriously fast emotional rollercoaster.   And what does Xerxes do?   He sits in the room and just sleeps.  All day long... He's a seriously chilled out dude, completely unaffected by all the commotion and very affectionate.  After losing my best friend Tinkerbell (tabby) not so long ago, he cheers me up on crappy days.

Xerxes, we love you!

MAC Satin Lipstick in SNOB

OK.  So at the moment I am loving MAC Satin lipstick in SNOB.   It is a lovely pinky nude colour and is a great creamy consistency.   I have lips that are quite dry and prone to chapping and I find this moisturising enough and a great colour, for me anyway!

So here I am on Sunday afternoon, my family and I going to a friends for what I thought was just an afternoon at their house.   We decided to go to MacDonalds to feed my babies first;  going anywhere with hungry children is a no no!  I gorged on a Big Mac and large fries and an obligatory coffee (cappuccino of course).   Only after I had finished my eatathon my husband tells me that the afternoon planned was to go out for lunch.   Thank you darling.

So it was a test of friendship when we sat red faced with just an orange juice while everyone at the table filled their boots...  Yes I should have eaten but I was about to pop out of my jeans!

This is what I wore:

Burberry Brit Quilted Jacket in Navy
Armani J28 jeans in Navy
Tory Burch Reva Ballerinas in Orange

Bobbi Brown BB Cream SPF 35 - review

So what do I wear on a daily basis?   When I can't be bothered with base, primer and foundation?  I use Bobbi Brown BB Cream which although is light coverage makes your face glow!  I literally moisturise, dampen a foundation brush and apply all over my face.  And that's it, job done.  Its literally like a tinted moisturiser just with a bit more staying power but much lighter than a foundation. Have a few brown spots on my face which I just cover with a bit of concealer but if you are just popping to the shops or out for a quick drink who cares?  Not me...

I use it here in photo: Bobbi Brown BB Cream SPF 35 in Medium to Dark

The week from hell

Ok.  So the week from hell.   I've been ripped off, shouted at and just about everything has got to me.

First things first.  House of Fraser.  So I order an item a week ago and it didn't arrive.   Informed them and they refuse to give me a refund until they can locate the parcel.   Seriously House of Fraser, you are a big company and you have charged me for something I haven't received!  Surely a law must be being broken here..?  And it was a massive £300.

Being shouted at!  Driving in my car and getting stuck between 2 cars in a narrow road.  Not my fault, but I had the highway code quoted at me and a series of insults.  Her biggest issue was how cars were driving on the grass beds (which I didn't do) and ruining the flowers!  What a nice set of problems to have...

My biggest problem right now, is that the week isn't through yet!   Contemplating staying in bed tomorrow and not venturing outside my house, like until Sunday!!!

Until then this is my way of dealing with a crap week so far.  Cheers!

Damsel In Distress

So there I was, ordering a cappuccino and a lady was sat opposite me with a baby which only looked a few months old.   Next thing I know, she had knocked her coffee all over herself, her table and all her belongings.   Now, I know how that must have felt when you are alone with your baby.

So, being a good human being, I rushed over with tissues and dutifully mopped up for her.   She was very grateful.   Except, caught in the moment, while I was tidying up, I picked up her brand new I Phone 6.   I then walked off with it to the other side of the room.  In my defence, I just went to get more tissues so I could clean it for her.  However, she probably felt "I just dropped my coffee everywhere and now someone is stealing my phone!"  Realising I shouldn't have done that, I rushed back and apologised like 1000 times.   She was very good about it (not sure I would have been)and looked kinda relieved when I handed it back!  Sorry to go off my point, but I had to share that.  I was chuckling for a week...

Anyway, back to the cappuccino.  I love cappuccino;  it is my favourite thing in the whole wide world.   Oh and for me, it has to be mainly froth.   Too milky and I get very cross!  But it does stain your teeth and for years I was debating over white teeth or coffee.   Coffee always won.

So did a little research, and I found this gem:   White Glo Extra Strength Whitening toothpaste.
It is AMAZING stuff...
